The land for the famous local restaurant Shirley's Tippy Canoe is for sale in Troutdale, Oregon
The Land is for sale where the famous local restaurant Shirley's Tippy Canoe is for sale. The restaurant burned down in 2020 under suspicious circumstances according to this news article:"Suspicious Fire" burns down Shirley's Tippy Canoe. Anyhow the location is just amazing and in a very beautiful spot on the Sandy River in an Emerald Green Forest with small waterfalls spilling down into the river, along the old historic Columbia River Highway. I use to eat at Shirley's Tippy Canoe every week practically on the weekend for breakfast. The blueberry pancakes were the best I've had anywhere and Shirley always gave this same pitch to every customer with "We take 16 eggs and beat the hell out of them for our homemade pancake batter and that is why they are so light and fluffy". Shirley was the owner, who originally was from Michigan. She named the restaurant after herself of course and took part of the political slogan of the Whig Party "Tippy Canoe and Tyler Too" whose nominee was John Tyler who became the 10th President of the United States. The restaurant was famous for it appearing in the television show GRIMM although Shirley said the carpenters for the TV show changed the appearance of the interior of the restaurant for those two episodes and then tore out their makeshift remodel when finished.
My idea for the new restaurant on the land is to make a smaller scale replica of THE LOTUS TEMPLE located in India. Behold!
and of course look how cool the aerial view is. The restaurant would not need the water feature ponds like the original, just the beautiful building, lotus shape and clear views to the river. It should fit the footprint of 4,000 square feet. Now to paraphrase John Lennon, "You might say, I'm a dreamer" but in reality the visionary architect and genius named Fairiborz Sahba who designed the Lotus Temple lives in La Jolla, CA I read which makes La Jolla famous for Architecture, hippies, nudists, beach combers, and religious cults... The building would be so perfect with its white shell and being surrounded by an emerald forest and ferns by a beautiful river. This restaurant site deserves the most beautiful architecture in the world and darned good food is served inside. It would be so cool! The land is priced at $775,000.
