In this buildings favor it is a LEED GOLD building and on the National Historic Register.Attaining Gold certification denotes that a building has excelled in its sustainable design and operation, securing over 60% of the LEED points. This prestigious level is indicative of a project's comprehensive adoption of best practices in sustainability. Now the Raven & Rose had a 4 star rating on Yelp Raven & Rose Yelp but COVID-19 entered the picture and since the restaurant had limited outside seating, the restaurant passed away so to speak. Now Wikipedia stated:"The British Isles inspired" and "Irish-Influenced" restaurant Raven & Rose was housed in the Ladd Carriage House along Southwest Broadway in downtown Portland, along with an upstairs cocktail bar called "The Rookery."
Looking at the outside architecture of the building it definitely looks kind of spooky and haunted and European. My favorite Dracula's, Bela Lugosi (Hungarian by birth, he loved the role so much he insisted he be buried in his Dracula outfit) and Christopher Lee (Born in England.) Now Portland, OR had its own Vampire like Mistress of the Night in Tarantula Ghoul & Tarantula Ghoul
I would call the restaurant THE TARANTULA GHOUL CAFE. I would of used the word Bistro instead of cafe but my Dad always told me if the restaurant had the name Bistro in it the food would suck and the price would be very high. I would change the name of the upstairs Cocktail Bar from "The Rookery" to "Bats in the Belfry" (See photo below)and of course adorn the interior building with photos of Tarantula Ghoul. I would make the cuisine Pacific Northwest farm to table which is healthy and gives the customer plenty of options. Check out the photos of the restaurant interior below.and this photo and this one By doing this idea it would be melding Portland Building History with Portland Human history. Both should be preserved and enjoyed by all. To see more photos of the building and restaurant go here: Ladd Carriage House
